This Fall I had the pleasure to share a bus with the one and only Carlene Carter during the cross-country US tour of John Mellencamp and Stephen King’s musical Ghost Brothers of Darkland County. During our various conversations about music and hobbies outside of the show, I mentioned Five Points Instruments to Carlene and she expressed interest in a custom cigar box guitar of her own. Well, Carlene, here it is: The Cartercaster. Carlene has a penchant for Nat Sherman cigarillos, so I figured a Nat Sherman box was in order. This baby has a 24.75″ scale, mini hum bucker in the neck position for thick, rumbling tones; a piezo under the bridge picks up the natural acoustic tones of the cedar box. A three way switch, volume and tone controls offer a wide variety of tone and control. You may just see this little axe on stage with Carlene during her upcoming US tour with John Mellencamp. Enjoy, Carlene!
