A tenor uke with an old time look. Piezo pickup with volume and tome controls and bullet casing knobs, for the steampunk inside us all.
Build for a good friend and fellow Game of Thrones fan, the Khaleesi is one of my favorite design jobs to date. The original wood-burnt dragon rider design matches well with the blow torched edges and gold hardware. Piezo pickup and volume/tone controls with vintage brass cabinet knobs and skeleton key bridge gives an old time feel to a brilliant sounding instruments. It’s as fun to play as to display.
It’s been a great month of exploration into the customized conversion of old time tobacco tins into playable instruments, starting with the Edgeworth Plug Slice soprano ukulele. This little baby has a maple through-body neck, and piezo pickup with volume control. Great sound and cool looks in a small package.
Next up is the Edgeworth Mini 6 string guitar. The 18″ scale means this guitar is tuned a fourth above a standard guitar (High to Low: AECGDA) and can fit in your backpack. The mini hum bucker with volume/tone controls turns this innocent looking cutie into a howling beast.
