The first 5 string cigar box banjo has arrived.  24 3/4″ scale, maple and red oak neck/fingerboard, piezo pickup with volume control. I recently had the pleasure to be a part of the NYC workshop of BRIGHT STAR, a new musical by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell.  One day during a lunch break, Mr. Martin was plucking away at his banjo when I handed this little beauty to him.  He grabbed it and started to pick away.  It was wonderful hearing a true master playing this thing.  He said it played really well.  That’s all I needed.
